6 months old

Ellie turned 6 months last week and had her 6 month checkup. She is a hefty 14 lbs which keeps her in the 10th percentile. She is 26 3/4 inches which is 75th percentile for height. She has moved on to stage 2 baby foods. Overall she is doing very well and is even sleeping through the nights some.

Never Too Dark To Wear Shades

For those who don't know, my sister and I have a long standing ritual of taking pictures wherever we are in our shades. She is in town visiting this weekend so we thought we would include Ellie in the club.

Long Week With A Sick Baby

We have had a fun week that actually started last Friday when Ellie started running a fever at daycare. She was started on antibiotics Sat. morning, but continued to run fevers through Tuesday. Ashley took her back to pediatrician Tuesday, and she had an elevated white blood cell count (a marker of infection), a bad ear infection, and a chest x-ray consistent with mild viral pneumonia. She ended up getting a shot of antibiotic and her oral antibiotic was changed. I had to round at the hospital all weekend and was on call last night, so Ashley has been run a little ragged getting up with a sick baby at all hours. Thankfully I was post call today and able to stay home with her today and she is doing much better. No fever now for 36 hrs and eating well with less fussiness. Hopefully we have this thing turned around. Anyway, looks like Ellie is better and will return to daycare tomorrow. Below is a sweet picture of her sleeping in our bed this morning as Ashley was leaving for work and I was getting home. Such an innocent little face.

Future So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades

Sitting Up

Ellie has had a busy couple of days with several new tricks. She has finally figured out how to roll from her back to front. She has been 3/4 of the way for several weeks now, but hasn't been able to get over completely. She made it over yesterday and now loves to roll over. She is also perfecting sitting up on her own. Once we sit her up she will sit all by herself and has even figured out how to catch herself when she starts falling to one side. I have posted some pictures of her sitting all by herself.

Orange Going In, Orange Coming Out?

Well it has been awhile since my last post, mostly secondary to laziness, but also because Ellie and I went to Tifton for several days and left Ashley here to rest. I forgot the camera, but luckily my Mom had hers, so please see her blog www.ewbpcb.blogspot.com to see all the action. Today we had a big day as Ellie had her first real food, carrots. She has been eating rice cereal for a while, but we had held off adding anything because she was sick. Now she is feeling much better so we went for it tonight and she loved every bite. She ate the entire jar (except what she got on her face, bib, burp cloth, and seat) and a full bottle. Some pictures are below.
