Our Blog

This blog spot is primarily a photo/memory album for our family. It also serves as a way for us to share what is going on in our lives with our friends and family that don't see us on a regular basis. Ashley, Worth, Ellie, Emma, and Mack

Ellie's Field Day

Field day was a couple of weeks ago and I got to go spend the morning with Ellie's class as they rotated through all of the activities. It was so hot outside that day. Ellie got a serious red neck sunburn and I think she was barely in her bed before she fell asleep that night. I had a great time being able to be there with her though. And, I'm pretty sure all the kids there were having a blast!

Not sure what game this was. But this is what they were doing when I finally got to the school.

In action hurdles. Ellie on far left and her friend Sammy to the right of her

Ellie was a pro at this putting game. Out of 2 classes in this group she won. She made it 3 rounds hitting the ball to the target.

This game involved the 2 classes in the group throwing soft fuzzy balls at each other over a volley ball net. This is Ellie with Sammy and her other friend, Abby.

Ellie started out behind on this game...

but she soon caught up and won.

The excitement of 2 little girls who thought that they were about to go to the popsicle station next.

Instead of the popsicle station, they had to play basketball.

Tug of War! Ellie's class against the other kindergarten class in their group

Ellie's class won.

Next, was girls against girls.

They were cute, but the other class won.

Then the boys were up. Mrs. Taylor's boys won!

The limbo was our next stop

Hula Hoop. This was pretty much just mad chaos

Mrs. Taylor showing off her hula hoop skills

Corn hole, another favorite of Ellie's. She's had a lot of practice at the beach and at tailgates with this one.

The Long Jump

Ellie had a 6 foot jump from flat feet to flat feet.

She FINALLY got her popsicle.

Easter!

So this post is going to include not only Easter but the 2 weeks leading up to Easter. We've had ALOT going on, and I have lots of pictures to prove it!

A couple of weeks ago on a Thursday morning - Mack woke up looking like this. Yes, an allergic reaction to his antibiotic. Scary, but other than the rash, he was perfectly fine. No more Sulfa drugs for him. The antibiotic was for ear infection #6, he has since gotten ear infection #7, which convinced the pediatrician that he could finally see the ENT. We have an appointment this week.

So the Monday morning following Mack's episode, Emma woke up like this. What can I say, my kids love to surprise me first thing in the morning. No, she hadn't been crying. She had  pink eye, which until now had passed over our home. This poor kid is finally getting over her 4-5 bouts she had with strep throat all winter. Poor thing can't catch a break!
At the end of that week. Emma had her school Easter party and egg hunt. She was very mad at me because I showed up late. The reason that I was late, was that the school nurse called me from Ellie's school and told me that Ellie was doubled over, laying on the floor, and pale with abdominal pain. The nurse said there was no fever and Ellie was not tender to palpation, but she thought she might be more comfortable at home. So, I had to rush to the school to pick up Ellie before I could make it to Emma's Easter party. Which I showed up to late and with Mack in tow. Ellie opted to lay in the car and watch a movie while we were inside the preschool at the Easter party. She really did not feel good! And, honestly, I wasn't convinced at this point that she didn't have a stomach bug. Ellie ended up being fine, Mirilax solved her abdominal pain problems. And, Emma got over me missing 3 minutes of her Easter egg hunt.

Sweet girl posing for the camera. They had to have their egg hunt inside due to  rainy weather outside.

If you look to the left of the picture, you will notice Emma's class posing for a group shot. If you look to the right of the picture, you will notice my daughter pouting, refusing to get in the picture. Ahhh! gotta love age 3!

With a little coaxing from her teacher (who she is pretty much latched on to  in this picture) she finally got in her class picture.

Finally out of pouting mode and into her Easter snack.

So, what I haven't mentioned on any posts yet, is that we are having our master bathroom remodeled. We started at the end of February and we were planning on finishing up the week of spring break. Well, we cruised into spring break with ease and no children sick, until that Tuesday. Not due to anyone's fault, but timing, our septic tank decided to back up Tuesday morning. We have no toilet in the back master bath because we are remodeling and the toilet, sinks, fixtures, etc. were set to go in later that week. Well, when a septic tank backs up and you don't have a toilet to catch the sewage, it spews out of the hole that is in the floor on to our freshly painted walls and baseboards, covers the brand new tiled floor and then seeps through the drywall into the carpeted hallway where it just soaks into the carpet, walls and anything else in its path. And, by the way, it stinks BAD! Not that you couldn't have guessed that. To make a long story short, serv pro had to be called, drywall, carpet, baseboards were ripped out, the water and sewage was cleaned up, and dehumidifiers were placed for 3 days to suck out any remaining moisture. Due to all of the damage, we were officially down from a 4 bedroom, 4 and 1/2 bath house, to a 2 bedroom, 2 and 1/2 bath house. Call me spoiled, but 5 people in 2 bedrooms was not fun! We finally got our master bedroom cleaned out enough that Worth and I could return there to sleep. The good news is that in addition to remodeling a bathroom, we now get new flooring in our entire downstairs of our house. Yay?!

What I found when I got home from work around lunchtime that Tuesday

Before Serv pro arrived. I have stooped to a new level of womanhood, mopping and wiping up  raw sewage frantically to remove it from my newly tiled bathroom floor.

After Serv Pro arrived. Hallway carpet and baseboards completely ripped out

Drywall and carpet removed. Serv pro dehumidifier doing its thing.

We ended up surviving the week and made it to Easter weekend. Saturday we headed up to Tifton for an egg hunt with the Berrymans, and dinner with my parents and Amos and Anna who were in town for Easter as well. We hopped up Sunday morning with a little time to peruse what the Easter bunny brought then headed to church here in Valdosta. After church we jumped in the car and headed to Albany to eat lunch with all the Bowers. It was a very eventful weekend, but it was great to get to see so many family members in one weekend.

Family shot - finally! I don't have much memory of what happened on Easter last year, but I do know that I was very upset that we didn't get a family picture. We were successful this year.

Sweet, very well dressed cousins!
