Fall/Thanksgiving 2012

These are some pictures from the last couple of weeks - Ellie's Thanksgiving feast at school, and our Thanksgiving dinner here in Valdosta with my parents, my brother Amos and his wife, Anna. We had a great holiday and I'm still in a complete fog from all the food I ate yesterday!

We have a BIG surprise trip on Monday for the girls. Ellie and Emma have no idea what's in store next week for them! I'll blog about it soon.......

Ellie was the first one in line walking in to her school Thanksgiving feast.

She was singing her heart out:)

Future UGA Cheerleader

Ellie attended her first UGA game in Sanford Stadium this weekend. She has been to many tailgates, but she has never gone to a game with us. She was very excited about "seeing the Bulldogs play on the GRASS!!" She had a great time and got away with eating way too much junk all day. I couldn't deny her the brownies, rice krispy treats, and doughnut holes at the tailgate. Then, as soon as we got into the game Worth immediately bought her cotton candy. She almost finished the entire bag of cotton candy by herself! After walking down to the field to see Uga, cheering her heart and lungs out at the game, getting high 5's from folks around us, and jumping around when the bands played, she completely passed out as soon as we got her buckled in her car seat for the ride back to Aunt Kate and Uncle Jay's house. She had such a good time and these are some cell phone pictures Worth and I snapped yesterday.
At the tailgate, my girls hijacked another child's wagon and made E.W. walk them all around

Silly

Just some silly pictures of the girls. We went out today looking for some Thanksgiving stuff for Ellie's class this week. (She got sent home with a box on Friday to fill up with Thanksgiving stuff) Who knew that ALL Thanksgiving/Fall decorations have been removed from every store in Valdosta. All I needed was a pilgrim hat or a stuffed turkey or just something Thanksgiving/Fall themed!! I guess if I were crafty and creative enough,  I would have made it months ago. I ended up making Ellie pick up leaves and acorns out of the yard, we found a turkey visor,  we threw in an ear of corn and she cut out a picture of an Indian and Pilgrim. Yes, I win mother of the year on this one.

Ellie was happy though, because she found these headbands at the Dollar Tree. And yes, Emma is without pants in a picture because she refused to let me put them back on after a diaper change this afternoon!

4 year and 18 month check up

Yesterday was the girls' well check. Ellie's 4 year and Emma's 18 month. After a week of prepping, role play and discussion, I just knew that Ellie would do wonderfully getting her shots. WRONG! Thankfully, the only shot Emma got was her flu shot. Ellie got 4 or 5 sticks and it took 3 of us to hold her down. She screamed like she was being murdered. The nurses commented on how strong she was as we held her down. One nurse said "dynamite comes in small packages." Emma was just staring at Ellie like "why are they hurting my sister?"

It was the most traumatic event I've been through with Ellie, (and I gave birth to her with no epidural!) I think I was scarred more than Ellie! Ellie's comment to the nurse when we were done: "I'm not getting anymore shots ever again!"

As far as stats, Ellie is still 10th percentile in weight, 50-60th percentile in height. She weighed 30lbs. Emma on the other hand weighs 22lbs 11 and1/2 oz. Emma is 50th percentile across the board.

The picture below is in the doctor'a office prior to shots! I won't discuss the election today:( all I have to say is thanks America for flushing my career down the toilet!

Halloween 2012

It has taken me all weekend to narrow down the halloween pictures. I apologize for putting 24 on the blog, but this is kind of my baby book for the girls! We had a fun week filled with halloween excitement. Sunday night, the girls went to our church fall festival for bouncy house fun, dinner and then trunk or treat. Emma quickly learned how the trick or treat thing worked. She never has been afraid of anyone with food in their hand!

Wednesday was Ellie's class party and then Wednesday night we hit the streets of our neighborhood for some serious candy grabbing. Ellie thought we needed to go to every single house in our neighborhood (which is about 600 homes). We had to cut her off for bedtime though, and she was not happy about that. She showed Emma the ropes, and I think they both will be a mean candy hunting machine next year!

I've never really fully embraced the Halloween thing. I usually decorate more fall, mainly so I can leave decorations  up through thanksgiving. I've never been a big fan of dressing up and doing halloween themed parties. After seeing the effort of some of our neighbors this year, (and a friendly religious disagreement with a patient who believes it's wrong to teach your children about halloween, santa and the easter bunny - LONG STORY ) I will definitely go all out next year. The houses with the most decorations, music and people in costume attracted us to stop and get candy. They looked like they were having a blast, and Ellie was so excited about it! Her comment to her daddy after one of the scary houses was "I'm not scared of nofing Daddy!" It was definitely a fun family night that brought us together for several hours. (In my opinion, God would smile about that!)
