Our Blog

This blog spot is primarily a photo/memory album for our family. It also serves as a way for us to share what is going on in our lives with our friends and family that don't see us on a regular basis. Ashley, Worth, Ellie, Emma, and Mack

Last Day of School and Memorial Day Weekend 2018

I just realized that I never published the last blog post I did. So "Recital Week" just got added. I had written it up, just never typed "publish" I guess.

Anyway, last week was the last week of school for all three kiddos. Mack finished up on Monday, and the girls finished on Friday. They had a half day on Friday, so we picked them up from school and headed straight to SSI for our Memorial weekend away.

The rain has been bad for over 2 weeks. It didn't change and was pretty bad at SSI. We got 1 good day on the beach, then we had to come up with stuff to do for the remainder of our stay. It was so nice to get away, that the rain didn't even bother me.

The weather has been so bad here. The rain has been relentless, and I believe, due to this weather, we have all been sick in the Bowers house. I had a bad cold (from Emma and Mack) that turned into a sinus/ear infection, then fluid on my right ear. This required my eardrum to be manually ruptured by the ENT last Tuesday to relieve the pressure behind my eardrum. It hurt really bad initially, but once the eardrum was ruptured, the pressure released. I still have fluid that has interfered with my hearing. but I wasn't going to let a little temporary (hopefully) hearing loss in one ear, and fluid in my head get in the way of our first beach trip.

Here are our pictures from the week/weekend:

Mack's last day of pre-K 3 - it was a swim party.

Mack barely stopped long enough for me to get some pictures of him at the splash pad party.

Only my child wears goggles to a splash pad.

Mack and Luke

Hot Dogs and chips were the snack for the party.

The kids jump in the pool any second there is a break in the weather. It is killing their swim time.

This was last Thursday. Ellie was acting kind of funny and didn't want to swim. She sat down beside me outside and knocked out. I was laughing because she never just falls asleep. Well, about an hour later when we went inside I figured out the culprit. A 102 degree fever. (She got the crud the rest of us have had)

With a little tylenol and motrin, Ellie was up and ready to go to her last half day of school. Emma was excited to be having a class breakfast party.

This was about how I felt that morning.

Emma's teacher, Mr. Zajdel. It's been a good year and we are praying for an even better year next year.

Emma's other teacher, Ms. Rentz.

Ellie's class had their party last Thursday morning and parent attendance was not mandatory, so I went to work instead of attending her party, but I wish I would have gotten a picture of Ellie and her teacher Mrs. Hall. She was an AMAZING teacher. Ellie flourished in her room. She taught not only academics but character, and I love that!

We finally made it to SSI!

They wanted some pictures on the whales. The wind was blowing so hard I thought they might fall off!

They also wanted to get a picture being eaten by the whale.

Mack was scared despite his ability to smile for the camera.

Ellie had ups and downs with her illness. She would spike a fever, go lay down and once we gave her medicine she would be back to bouncing off the walls. Emma decided to watch cartoons with Ellie Saturday morning in the condo while we made breakfast.

Emma was ready to get the hole started!

Mack supervised

They finally got it somewhat finished

Ellie having another down moment on the couch.

Sunday, it was raining and the rip tide warnings were out. So we just let them run around on the beach until the sand started stinging as it blew hard in the wind.

Mack, the beach towel super hero, who lasted 2 seconds in the stinging rain.

Emma could have been out there all day.

no beach time, so we decided to put together puzzles that were in the condo.

Then it was movie time. My kids look so comfortable in this picture.

Emma was quite the shell collector on this trip. She's already washed, dried, and put them away for future craft activities.

Recital Week 2018

It has been a busy week of dancing this week. The girls had their spring recital this weekend, and it was a blast! Between both girls there were 4 rehearsals with 6 costume changes per rehearsal. I am one worn out mama. I came home from church today and took a 2 hour nap. (Worth was with the kids.)

Other than dancing, we had an end of season T-ball party for Mack, and Emma lost her first tooth! She pulled it out a couple of hours before recital, so her mouth was nice and bloody prior to the performances. Her tooth really wasn't even close to being ready to come out, but she sat and worked on it for an hour yesterday while we watched the royal wedding that I recorded that morning. She finally started crying and saying, 'my tooth!" I looked over at her and she had blood everywhere but had proceeded to get that tooth out of her head.

Mack was so excited to get his trophy from his coach. Excuse the grandmother who walked up right as I was taking Mack's picture.
Proud!
Emma in her tap costume at dress rehearsal. She loved this one because it was red and black, "Georgia Bulldog colors."
Right before we left for recital was when Emma lost her tooth. She FINALLY lost it. She has been complaining because everyone in her class was losing teeth except for her. We realized it was slightly wiggly a couple of days ago and she hasn't left it alone. She persevered and the tooth came out.
I would like to caption this "my sweet girls before recital," but in actuality it was utter chaos backstage. Ellie was not being so sweet. We were all tired and with the heat and humidity backstage, the fact that I have a monster sinus/ear infection, and the stress of getting everything done before line up, it wasn't a pleasant beginning to the night. I am so close to having Ellie at a point that she can get herself ready. We've just got to work on her red lipstick application and then I'm out!
One hot, sweaty, and sick mama with her girls.  I do love recital time and being with my babies backstage, even if it is a tad crazy at times.

Emma tap routine was first up. "Great Balls of Fire"

Emma had a solo part at the end. She did so good!

She cracked us up with her enthusiasm with her dancing and especially with her solo part.

Ellie's ballet routine was next up, "Isn't She Lovely"

It's amazing how much better these girls get every year. Ellie looked like a really grown up dancer on stage.

Act II started with Ellie's tap routine. "Stop the Rock"

Their costume for this were awesome. Ellie absolutely LOVES this costume.

Emma had ballet next with "Let them be Little"

Act III was jazz for both girls. Ellie's routine was to "Happy Birthday" a mix of songs

This class was 3rd and 4th grade and was HUGE. They did so awesome thought! You couldn't even tell there were 25 kids in the dance class during this dance because there were so many different groups in and out on the stage.

They nailed it!

Emma finished up the night with her jazz routine: "The way you make me feel." She loves Michael Jackson, so this was a perfect song for her to shake her booty to.

She was beaming the entire time.

The girls got flowers from their grandparents. They were so excited!

My mom made the girls a fascinator. Ellie insisted on wearing hers to church this morning.
