Our Blog

This blog spot is primarily a photo/memory album for our family. It also serves as a way for us to share what is going on in our lives with our friends and family that don't see us on a regular basis. Ashley, Worth, Ellie, Emma, and Mack

Preschool!

Mack started 2 year old preschool today. With his birthday being late in August, he'll actually do 2 years in 2 year old preschool. We are just going to spread the love, doing this year at the Episcopal preschool and then head over to 2 year program at the Methodist church next year. I felt like he needed something this year other than his regular Parents Morning Out. He had a great first day. He walked right in to his teacher with his book bag in hand. He looked like such a big boy!

Last Wednesday we had his 2 year old check up. He weighed 22 lb. 5 oz., which puts him in the 2nd percentile, I don't remember how long he was, but they said he was 40th percentile for height. And, I think they said his head circumference was still in the 75th percentile range. His head is the biggest thing about him.

Here are some pictures from this morning.

Mack turns 2!

Mack turned 2 on Friday, August 21st. It's hard to believe that it has already been 2 years since we brought this little nugget home from the hospital. He is such a blessing to our family and adds an entirely different dynamic to the group.

At 2, Mack speaks 3-4 word sentences, runs and climbs (everywhere,) has an infectious laugh, is VERY stubborn/demanding, has a temper that won't wait (got that from Worth,) and he loves airplanes, trucks, and tools. He is notorious for finding the most dangerous thing in a room, no matter how many toys and/or people are there to distract him. He likes to eat hot dogs, chicken, spaghetti, french fries, and ham/pork of any kind. He's still not a huge fan of vegetables. I can get him to eat steamed carrots and potatoes, but that's about it. The only fruits he eats are blueberries, grapes, bananas, and raisins. He's moody with strawberries, those are hit or miss.

He is so fun and exhausting all at the same time. He's not a big napper - an average nap for him lately in the afternoon is about 30 minutes. He still is sleeping in his crib. He hasn't attempted to crawl out, so he's staying there as long as he fits in it or decides to crawl out. Potty training is not even on the radar yet, but we did get him a potty for his birthday. Something just to let him start thinking about it.

We couldn't have a birthday party Friday night on his actual birthday because Worth and his group are interviewing a physician to add to their group. So, we had to entertain other folks Friday night. We did, however, have his birthday celebration Saturday in Tifton at E.W. and Mia's house.

Mack starts preschool August 31st. Keep posted for his 2 year stats (his check up is this coming Wednesday,) and pictures from his first day of preschool at a later time.

I couldn't not give him something sweet on his actual birthday. So, Friday night before Worth and I left, the girls and I lit a candle and sang "Happy Birthday" to him. (I bought him a mini cake from Publix for Friday night)

Saturday, we traveled to Tifton for his party. This was his "real" cake.

Kid loves an airplane, so hopefully this met his approval.

We just had a small family gathering - this was part of the crew there.

Waiting on his cake.

Seemingly happy....

Until he has a complete panic attack when we began singing to him. He freaked out and tried to escape the high chair.

Mia came to the rescue.

Still freaking out, Worth had to abandon the cake.

Poor thing. See if we sing happy birthday to him again!

Worth still trying to calm down my traumatized, weird child.

But eating eat, didn't pose any anxiety. One of his favorite things is "chocy" (chocolate) and this was a chocolate cake with lots of good icing.

Emma enjoyed it as well.

Everyone digging in for cake.

Emma helped Mack open gifts while Ellie filmed.

So far, his favorite gift. His very own drill. Now, he hopefully won't keep stealing Worth's real one.

Family shot

These are out of order, but this was right before the meltdown occurred.

We had to blow the candle out as a group to show him that it was ok.

Out of order, but this is when he woke up Friday morning, the girls serenaded him and carried him into the kitchen. Spoiled. Rotten.

The girls insisted on giving him their gift when he woke up.

Instead of a card, Ellie wrote him a book - this is page 2.

It's a harmonica! So, he won't keep stealing theirs.

Emma showing him how it works.

Sweet boy before we hit our Friday morning errands.

Another out of order, cake eating picture

My 2 year old before church this morning. I know he is soon to be out of peter pan collars, but I couldn't stand the cuteness this morning. (Notice the tool kit that hasn't left his side since yesterday)

Emma and Pre K 4

Emma's first day of 4 year old preschool was this past Friday, August 14th. She was so excited because she has the same teacher Ellie had in PreK4. Ms. Tish was a favorite for Ellie, and I know she will be for Emma as well. Emma has a great group of kids in her class, and she thinks she is hot stuff because she is now one of the "big kids" at the preschool. I'm going to try to hold on to every moment of this year  as long as I can, because I cannot even fathom Emma going to kindergarten!

These are pictures of this sweet girl on her first day.

Yes, the sign says that she wants to be a lifeguard when she grows up?! You never know what you are going to get  with this one.

Freddie has to love on his girls before they head off on their first day.

Emma found her seat and Ms. Tish had an activity waiting on them

Couldn't get a good smile from her, I think she just wanted me to leave.

First Grade!

It's so hard to believe that my baby is in the first grade now. The first day of school was this past Thursday, August 6th. Way too early for school to start. It's still 100 degrees outside, humid, and I feel like we JUST got back from our beach trip. We were just getting into a good summer routine before we had to change everything up again!

This year was much easier for me. I definitely held it together at the open house this year, and it wasn't as hard to drop her off. The school was familiar, and I knew what to expect. I still felt my heart jump into my throat when I said good bye to her that morning though! Will I do this every year, even when she's 18? Yes, probably! I can't imagine what sending her off to college will be like. Don't even want to go there right now!

So far, after 2 days of school, she says she loves her teacher. They did a science experiment the first day that got Ellie hooked. She was so excited about the things that she will get to learn this year. She still won't eat a school lunch (except pizza on Fridays.) She claims she wants to be an artist when she grows up, but she LOVES math and science. When I asked her what new friends she made so far, she told me "none, I just played with Sammy and Abby at recess." Sammy and Abby were her 2 best friends from her kindergarten class. None of them got in the same class this year, and all three of them have been super upset about it. I'm looking forward to how much she will grow this year. It was amazing the changes that took place in Kindergarten. First grade, bring it on!

She did pose up for me the morning before we left for school.
The front door picture.

Standing outside her classroom about to walk in.

Had to get a picture with Bo. Her buddy. They've managed to get in the same class since 2  year old preschool.  Don't know what these two are going to do if they ever get split up.
