This blog spot is primarily a photo/memory album for our family. It also serves as a way for us to share what is going on in our lives with our friends and family that don't see us on a regular basis. Ashley, Worth, Ellie, Emma, and Mack
I realize it is the middle of October and I am finally posting our September events - well most of September. It has been a whirlwind month and I have so many pictures to document it. October pictures are coming! I promise!
First up, on September 19th, our sweet Ellie turned 13. THIRTEEN! She is a teenager and I cannot wrap my head around it. She is still Ellie though and never fails to keep us on our toes. She loves dance, loves to watch TV, works very hard to make good grades, fights with Mack and Emma, and she has middle school brain moments that we are learning (finally) how to work around. She amazes me at the amount of craft projects she can start but not finish in one afternoon. She has such great ideas and we are working on focusing on actually finishing these crafts. Leonard is the love of her life at the moment and he rarely leaves her side when she's home.
After Ellie's birthday, Worth and I headed to the Ryder Cup in Kohler, Wisconsin. It had been Worth's 40th birthday gift that was supposed to happen in 2020, but it was postponed due to the pandemic. The reschedule date was this September. Worth was so excited to finally go. We had such a good time! Wisconsin was not exactly what I expected. It was incredibly beautiful and very clean! We stayed in Milwaukee and I don't think I've ever been in a big city as clean as it was. The food was fantastic everywhere we ate. Oh, and the golf was really amazing!!
Emma ran for student council and won! I was soooo proud of her. She completely stepped out of her comfort zone and ended up with a win! She was so proud of herself and is looking forward to serving on her school's student council.
Emma's campaign poster! She went with a lego theme because she "can build a better school."
Ellie wanted a "Friends" themed birthday party this year. We let her start watching it this fall and she has fallen in love with the show. I enjoy it, because it is actually something I can watch with her. I no longer have to sit through those terrible teeny bob shows.
Our 13 year old getting ready for her pool and slip and slide get together.
All of these pictures were just too funny not to post on the blog.
The first arrivals to the party.
The whole crew!
We had Friends themed snacks since it was just an afternoon gathering.
The cake!
Getting ready to blow out the candles.
Ellie's birthday was on a Sunday, so after her party Saturday, she woke up Sunday morning to family gifts and cards.
Officially 13!!
She still has serious bed head. Becoming a teenager didn't change that
We were headed to church, but had some time for Ellie to open her gifts before they ate breakfast.
Ellie loved her gift from Emma, and Emma loved the hug from Ellie.
Mack was so proud of the gift he came up with for Ellie.
Clearly Ellie loved it too. Mack, being a true Bowers, is giving the explanation.
It was a framed picture of baby Leonard.
Birthday gift morning is always exciting....
....even if it's not your birthday.
Ellie has always had some pretty awesome facial expressions.
How is this sweet baby 13???
For her birthday meal, Ellie asked that her grandparents come. She also requested a specific menu of Zaxby's chicken tenders, Green Beans, my 5 cheese macaroni and cheese, grandma's orange congealed salad and marshmallow salad, and instead of cake, an ice cream bar.
Such a great picture.
And yes, you can have a candle in your birthday ice cream.
Ellie will soon be bigger than grandma.
Emma had to dress as an idiom for school. She chose to be "smarty pants." Mack's comment of the month was, "Now what do you have to do for school Emma? Dress like an idiot?"
The Ryder Cup was so much fun! We couldn't believe how blue the water was in Lake Michigan. The waves were crazy this first day we were there as well.
This was the Thursday of practice rounds.
It was very cool to be so close to the golfers.
After clocking 10 miles of walking on our watches (My watch asked me at one point if I might be possibly doing an elliptical workout) we headed to the grand stands and watched part of the opening ceremonies.
The food was sooo good everywhere we went. It was also surprisingly affordable. This was our appetizer.
My main dish
Worth's main dish.
Day 2 for us at the Ryder Cup was the 1st day of the tournament. The costumes did not disappoint.
Worth and I felt like we were dressed pretty patriotically but we didn't hold a candle to most of those people.
These guys were singing. It was hysterical.
This poor guy was just walking by himself like it was perfectly normal to be in an eagle suit.
We gave Harris English a "Go Dawgs" when he walked by.
This guy was over served and oversized for the plastic Adirondack chairs.
There were SOOO many pictures this month. I wish I had the time to post ALL of them!
