Our Blog

This blog spot is primarily a photo/memory album for our family. It also serves as a way for us to share what is going on in our lives with our friends and family that don't see us on a regular basis. Ashley, Worth, Ellie, Emma, and Mack

Recital Week 2018

It has been a busy week of dancing this week. The girls had their spring recital this weekend, and it was a blast! Between both girls there were 4 rehearsals with 6 costume changes per rehearsal. I am one worn out mama. I came home from church today and took a 2 hour nap. (Worth was with the kids.)

Other than dancing, we had an end of season T-ball party for Mack, and Emma lost her first tooth! She pulled it out a couple of hours before recital, so her mouth was nice and bloody prior to the performances. Her tooth really wasn't even close to being ready to come out, but she sat and worked on it for an hour yesterday while we watched the royal wedding that I recorded that morning. She finally started crying and saying, 'my tooth!" I looked over at her and she had blood everywhere but had proceeded to get that tooth out of her head.

Mack was so excited to get his trophy from his coach. Excuse the grandmother who walked up right as I was taking Mack's picture.
Proud!
Emma in her tap costume at dress rehearsal. She loved this one because it was red and black, "Georgia Bulldog colors."
Right before we left for recital was when Emma lost her tooth. She FINALLY lost it. She has been complaining because everyone in her class was losing teeth except for her. We realized it was slightly wiggly a couple of days ago and she hasn't left it alone. She persevered and the tooth came out.
I would like to caption this "my sweet girls before recital," but in actuality it was utter chaos backstage. Ellie was not being so sweet. We were all tired and with the heat and humidity backstage, the fact that I have a monster sinus/ear infection, and the stress of getting everything done before line up, it wasn't a pleasant beginning to the night. I am so close to having Ellie at a point that she can get herself ready. We've just got to work on her red lipstick application and then I'm out!
One hot, sweaty, and sick mama with her girls.  I do love recital time and being with my babies backstage, even if it is a tad crazy at times.

Emma tap routine was first up. "Great Balls of Fire"

Emma had a solo part at the end. She did so good!

She cracked us up with her enthusiasm with her dancing and especially with her solo part.

Ellie's ballet routine was next up, "Isn't She Lovely"

It's amazing how much better these girls get every year. Ellie looked like a really grown up dancer on stage.

Act II started with Ellie's tap routine. "Stop the Rock"

Their costume for this were awesome. Ellie absolutely LOVES this costume.

Emma had ballet next with "Let them be Little"

Act III was jazz for both girls. Ellie's routine was to "Happy Birthday" a mix of songs

This class was 3rd and 4th grade and was HUGE. They did so awesome thought! You couldn't even tell there were 25 kids in the dance class during this dance because there were so many different groups in and out on the stage.

They nailed it!

Emma finished up the night with her jazz routine: "The way you make me feel." She loves Michael Jackson, so this was a perfect song for her to shake her booty to.

She was beaming the entire time.

The girls got flowers from their grandparents. They were so excited!

My mom made the girls a fascinator. Ellie insisted on wearing hers to church this morning.
