Our Blog

This blog spot is primarily a photo/memory album for our family. It also serves as a way for us to share what is going on in our lives with our friends and family that don't see us on a regular basis. Ashley, Worth, Ellie, Emma, and Mack

Labor Day Weekend 2018

We had a fun, activity packed weekend this year for labor day. To lead into our exciting labor day weekend, we had a busy week full of soccer, tooth losses, homework, and dress up day for "B" week at preschool.

Friday, we headed up to Athens to spend time with the Berrymans. We got up Saturday (Worth, Bo, and Banks got up REALLY early) had some coffee, breakfast, did some tailgate prep, and then we headed to the tailgate. UGA played Austin-Peay for the first game this year and it was HOT!!! The tailgate seemed to get hotter the longer we stayed. After several children (and adult) meltdowns (literally and figuratively,) we headed to Sanford Stadium to sweat some more. I can honestly say it wasn't the hottest game I've ever been to, but it was definitely close to it for me. I had sweat everywhere - mine and the kids. Mack's hair was wet with sweat, Ellie was complaining that her shorts were stuck to her butt, and Emma kept a red face most of the day. After it was all said and done, UGA came out with the win. I kept asking myself all day why we were there doing that to ourselves in the insane heat with 3 kids, and all I could come up with was "memories." It was definitely memorable and as the weekend has now passed, I can look back with fondness (mainly because I'm sitting in air conditioning writing this.)

Sunday morning we got up and headed to the Berrymans' lake house at Lake Oconee. We spent the day on the water. We did some tubing, boat riding, and playing at "the beach." I don't think I had ever been out on Lake Oconee, and it did not disappoint. It was beautiful! We had such a good time, so much so, that Ellie and Emma slept on and off almost the entire trip home today. This is something my children have never been good at, but they were lights out for almost a 3 and 1/2 hour trip home. It was so good to have time with Kate, Jay, Bo, Banks, and Grey. They are definitely people I am proud to call family, and are always fun to be around.

It was a great week and weekend from beginning to end!

We started of the week with 1 and 1/2 hours of 4th grade homework.

Mack is finally 5, which means he is old enough for Tuesday golf clinics.  To  say he was excited would be putting it lightly.

He thinks he's hot stuff with his golf bag.

Tuesday, at school, Emma lost her 2nd tooth! Poor thing, most of her friends have lost many teeth, Emma has only lost 2.

A little snack break in the car while we waited on Ellie to get out of a student council meeting. Emma was so desperate to watch the movie Mack was watching she didn't even care that her headphones were broken.

I caught this rainbow over Mack's soccer practice Thursday afternoon. They hold a special place in my heart now.

Mack is pumped about soccer season!

This week was "B" week at preschool. Friday, they could dress backward if they wanted to. Mack went all out.

Family time always includes food!

Grey was hanging with the big kids more on this trip.

The first kids to arrive at the tailgate for the 2018 football season!!

My 3 munchkins. Ellie is slowly creeping her way out of munchkin status.

"We're bored and hot!"

This meltdown got worse and won him some time out time in the air conditioned car with a bottle of water. He pulled it together eventually.

Clearly Mack was thrilled about taking this family picture.

Bo and Ellie were taking turns in front of the fans. Bo's wet hair is no exaggeration of what we were dealing with.

Fan Hog.

The kids love the rocks in front of our tailgate over any toy that is brought.

Cousins having some chill out time.

Mack was pacified when he got a frozen lemonade at the game.

The girls were happy about it too.

Sweet boys getting into the game or having serious life discussions. I'm not sure which.

Me and my girls with the bright sun beating us down from behind.

Tubing time!

Ellie was fine at first, but freaked out after the first few bumps.

Ellie with a death grip. This was her one and only tubing experience.

Mack, not with bed head this time, tubing hair!

We stopped for a quick swim in the shallow area. Lake Oconee is a beautiful place!

Ellie still terrified of being in the water. Even in a lake. My poor child.

Banks passed out.

And so did Grey, in my lap!

Worth decided he wanted to tube.

until another boat came flying by and left some massive wake that  flipped Worth and Mack off. Mack did so good though! He looked like he was riding a bucking horse trying to stay on the tube until he finally just slid off the side. It was hysterical. Worth did come down pretty hard on Emma's arm at one point, so she was a little scared afterwards.

Who needs benedryl when you have a boat ride. Sleeping children everywhere.

Lake beach time!

Emma took Mack on a little kayaking adventure. (She recovered from her arm injury pretty quickly.)

Ellie, still, not a fan of the water. She would get on the float and float around out there though.

Grey in control of float duty.

When we finally pulled into the driveway, I had to get documentation of what our car ride home had been like.

They slept another 10 minuets while we unloaded. I finally had to wake them up to come inside to eat lunch.  GREAT WEEKEND!!
