Our Blog

This blog spot is primarily a photo/memory album for our family. It also serves as a way for us to share what is going on in our lives with our friends and family that don't see us on a regular basis. Ashley, Worth, Ellie, Emma, and Mack

The rest of DecemberChristmas 2019

This Christmas season went by way too fast. I feel like it was all a big blur. I don't feel like I ever got the opportunity to get fully into the Christmas spirit. Sadly, our lights, yard blow ups, Christmas tree and all decorations were down by December 27th. Today we prepare to ring in the new year that begins at midnight. I wish I could somehow slow time, as I feel like it completely slipped away from me this December. (I think I probably posted the same comment last December - and the December before that.). I didn't get all the pictures or all the videos, but I've posted a synopsis of the documenting I did.
Emma had her school Christmas concert and it was fabulous as always. I got some video, but I was still so far away you couldn't see Emma. These were the best pictures I took.
It looked like she was having a blast out there.

I made it to 1 class Christmas party, and it was Ellie's. I figured if I went to one, it needed to be hers, since there will be no more in middle school next year.

Ellie had her Holly Ball for Cotillion and it was so fun to watch.
They had to be escorted in and introduced to their instructors by their male partner.

Once the girls were all seated the boys had to fill in and it happened to work out that Bo, my best friend Allison's son, was Ellie's dance partner.

She was not thrilled about having to dance with a boy, but has practiced this for a while.

They did so good!

Mia and E.W.'s houre was our first family Christmas celebration for the season. The Bowers kids were thrilled to see their Athens cousins!

Emma got a "big Joe" and is loving it.

Hugs from Grey baby

Bo opening his gift from us.

Ellie opening her sewing machine from Mia. I don't think she was excited at all. :)

Mack got a maze book. He loves those.
Despite the look of chaos, we came home with all correct gifts and no lost items (so far.)

We gave Grey a microphone and I think it was a hit.

The girls were excited for the pen sets.
I couldn't resist this picture.

Crazy cousins

After shower and with PJs group shot

I was trying to tick off all the traditions on the list. The kids finally had time to put their ginger bread house together on Christmas Eve. It turned out a disaster that fell apart, and got thrown away before I could get an "after" picture.

E.W. got all of the grandkids BB guns for Christmas, which called for a lesson on gun safety and practice shooting on Christmas Eve.

We did make it to church for the afternoon candlelight service. Maybe when these kids get older, I can talk them into the midnight mass service at the Episcopal church.

Waffle House for our Christmas Eve dinner!

These 3 were READY for Santa!
They got the reindeer food thrown out, cookies and milk put out for Santa, and carrots for Rudolph. (a slight view of our blow up/light show in the front yard in this picture)

I read to the kids every night. It occurred to me that I don't think there are any pictures to document it. Not that it matters, but I want to remember reading to them. I especially love reading them "The Night Before Christmas" every Christmas Eve before bed.

Santa Came!

Santa left a treasure hunt for Mack. It was a ribbon tied to one of his toy motorcycles. Mack followed the ribbon outside and it was tied to this!

His "motorbike"

My favorite part of Christmas now is seeing what the kids bought (and wrapped) for us from the Candy Cane store at their school. Mack got Worth a Christmas snow globe because he said he knows how much "daddy loves to decorate for Christmas"

These two goofballs were enjoying their snuggie and new robe.

Ellie having some vanilla egg nog for breakfast.

Worth and I gave Emma a new 1/4 zip fleece that she has removed once to be washed and that's it. I  say that was a score for her gift.

We headed to Grandma and Papa's for the afternoon and evening of Christmas Day!

#priorities

Sweet Hardy was a doll.

Hardy really enjoyed helping open gifts this year,
More gifts at Grandma's!
The look of anticipation is evident.
Grandma was excited to get her candy cane store gifts as well.

Anna and Amos got a painting of Hardy at the beach done by Mary Ann Cox. It was beautiful!
All kinds of goodies for Mack.
Hardy's feet don't hit the ground when his 2 girl cousins are around.

Amos and Anna headed down to Vadosta the Friday after Christmas for a brief visit. We took Hardy on a golf cart ride to the playground. He had a great time..and so did the Bowers girls.

This past weekend we headed to Monroe for the annual Chancey Christmas. Once again, it didn't disappoint.

The kid gift exchange is always fun.

Uncle Courtney was too cute entertaining baby Madelyn while we all opened gifts.

The kid exchange is fun, but the adult dirty Santa exchange will certainly leave you in stitches.
Matt was dressed for the occasion "jingle all the way"

Chancey Family picture Christmas 2019

After all was said and done, Mack woke up Sunday morning with a massively swollen hand. This picture was taken Monday after I had iced him, wrapped him, and pumped him with ibuprofen. I had to take him to work with me for an X-ray. I knew the knuckle was badly sprained but wanted to make sure there wasn't a fracture. So far, there is no fracture visible on the xray, but it is a bad tendon tear. He will be in a splint for a week and then will have to be re- xray'd again Monday. :(   (To make the situation even more typical for this family, he's not even sure exactly when it happened.)
