Our Blog

This blog spot is primarily a photo/memory album for our family. It also serves as a way for us to share what is going on in our lives with our friends and family that don't see us on a regular basis. Ashley, Worth, Ellie, Emma, and Mack

The Caboose turns 1!

Mack celebrated his first birthday this past Thursday, August 21st.  We had a small family celebration at our house. He had a cold and has several teeth coming in as well as the onset of separation anxiety that just started last week. So, as you can imagine his birthday was fun! Good times.

We love this little one so much though. At 1 he is walking (which he finally started at 11 months,) saying "Da," occasionally saying "Ma," and a ton of other gibberish that we can't quite make out. He keeps up with his older sisters much better now, and he is having to learn to roll with the punches, literally!. His stats are as follows: weight= 18lb 5oz. (Less than 2nd percentile) height= 29in (24th percentile) and head circumference= 18 ( 20th percentile.) Yes, he is still a peanut, and yes, I had to talk the nurse practitioner out of giving him a failure to thrive diagnosis. We saw a new NP in the pediatrician's office, and I had to explain to her that I have miniature children but that they all are normal so far. Also, he no longer takes a bottle and he's not a huge fan of whole milk. Plus, he is walking now, which always drops weight on a kid.  I did have to agree to put him on pediasure ( like we did with Ellie at age 3.) So, we'll see if he can put on some lbs before his 15 month check up!
A smile to start the day off
Proud to have his front door picture!

The Publix Cake - Mack is a big fan of Elmo right now.

The smash cake that came free with the cake I ordered from Publix. I love Publix!

The decorations

This is a quick picture after I taped the high chair decorations on for the 5th time after Mack got his hands on them. They didn't last long!

Mack's mood for most of the day. He did have a precious shirt on that my friend Katie Wigton made for him!

Poor birthday boy!

With Mommy and Daddy

Attempt of an entire family picture. Mack was not into it, and clearly, Emma couldn't figure out where the camera was.

Mack's birthday dinner : Chick-fil-A nuggets, green beans, and grapes.

Mack getting a little help from his sisters to blow out his candles

And his first cake...

Like a true Bowers kid,  he is very apprehensive at first

"What exactly is this?"

Daddy decided to help him out

"MMMMM!"

"Why have I not gotten this before now, Mommy? "

"It's fun to squish between my fingers too!"

" I think I'll have some more"

"num, num, num, num"

This is the point that he slung it all over the wall behind him

Best picture all night!

"WooHoo! Birthday Cake!!!"

Opening his gifts after a bath and wardrobe change

Of all the gifts, this was the favorite - the empty box! I love Emma's face in this picture.
