S'mores and Basketball

Ellie has begged for 2 years to play basketball. I have always said no because she takes dance, gymnastics, golf, and goes to a church group once a week. With 3 kids, it's just too much. I have to draw a line to maintain my sanity. With that being said, at some point, back in the fall, I must have had a lapse in this said "sanity."  Apparently,  I was feeling like I wasn't busy enough when Ellie found out that sign ups for basketball were happening and I agreed to let her do it. 😩 She went through tryouts and was placed on one of the 2nd/3rd grade girls teams from her school. This league is with parks and rec, so all the schools in Valdosta have a team for each grade group. Despite me (and other parents involved) questioning if anyone was actually in charge of the parks and rec department due to their complete lack of organization (where is Amy Pohler when we need her, ) the season FINALLY officially started this past Saturday.

After the past month of practices twice a week, Westside Silver had their chance to shine yesterday (Saturday)......and lost to  the Westside Cardinals 2-6. The girls were a little disappointed, but they really did play their heart out. I think only 1 girl on the team has ever played basketball before. They all came out of the game discussing what they needed to work on. Ellie sat out a good bit, but she remained so positive and cheered her team on. She may not ever become a basketball player, but the way she glides across the gym floor and her devotion to her team assures me that there will be dance and cheerleading in her future.

Last weekend, Worth was actually home (not on any call) and took Ellie to basketball practice. Emma has been begging to have friends over, so I thought it would be a great afternoon to have two of her friends from her class over. They were all so sweet and had a great time playing Barbies, singing Karaoke, playing outside in the 30 degree weather, having pizza, and ending the evening with s'mores before I took them home. Emma is really beginning to blossom and is so sweet with her friends. She was beyond excited that SHE was the one who got to have guests.

Madison, Emma, and Addie had their own band in our playroom

It was FREEZING outside (for south GA) but these girls didn't seem to mind a bit, especially when s'mores by the fire were involved.

Hot stuff before her game. She was really excited about her outfit.

Poor little Ellie and those humongous shorts.

She worked so hard!

Queen's parents are the coaches. She's little, but really good. This girl has many years of basketball ahead of her.
