Our Blog

This blog spot is primarily a photo/memory album for our family. It also serves as a way for us to share what is going on in our lives with our friends and family that don't see us on a regular basis. Ashley, Worth, Ellie, Emma, and Mack

Lip Sync and Labor Day Weekend

We had a kind of low key week, but a busy, fun weekend. Mack was sick most of the week, but finally made a turn around Wednesday afternoon. We were so glad he was feeling better, and REALLY glad when the round of steroids he had to take were done.

Tuesday night, Worth and I had a charity event to attend for the Girls on the Run of South GA. It was a lip sync contest and it was hysterical! Local celebrities participated and competed against one another. I laughed so hard throughout the event that my cheeks were sore.

My friend, Claire started this program here in Valdosta a year ago and has already made a HUGE impact on girls in the area. She targets 3rd-5th graders and has added a couple of middle schools this year. They have 2 sessions, a fall and a spring, that involve running training and ends with the girls competing in a 5K. The running is not all they do. They have lessons prior to running each session that teach them about self respect, body image, team work, bullying, accomplishing a goal, running to let go of negativity, etc. It's just such a great program I had to give it a shout out on the blog. :)

Saturday we headed up to A town for the first UGA game. The kids, as usual, loved the tailgate. This time, we let Mack go to a game with the rest of us. The game was at 6:15, and as expected, all of our kids were over it by half time. We stayed until about 1/2 of the way through the 3rd quarter then left. I was so proud to have all my crew there for the first time though. We had to split up our seating because we only have 3 season tickets, but I loved that everyone was there cheering on our DAWGS! (By the way, the Dawgs won!)

My daddy (Chappie's) 69th birthday was Friday, so we celebrated with them at the tailgate, then had breakfast with them before heading out of Athens Sunday morning.
There were some serious competitors at the lip sync battle. This was a husband wife team that did a Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash routine.

Salt and Pepa also showed up.

As well as Marky Mark minus his funky bunch.

The lip sync music was awesome, and I sadly failed to take pictures of our minister (from the Methodist church) battling the minister of the Episcopal church. It was so funny. I was too busy cheering and laughing to get any good pictures.

Finally at the tailgate! This is our friend Todd Mayo's son Will hanging out with Mack.

Bo showed up and these two were soon up to no good.

Some of the kids at our tailgate set up a lemonade stand and made $250!! We are in a great "walk by" location, so people were just dropping money in their jar. The money they were raising is for a little boy named Drew, whose parents are a part of our tailgate. Drew has Leukodystrophy.

Everybody was there!

Even Grandma and Papa

We chose to carry Mack into Sanford Stadium just in case he chose to take off running in the massive crowd.

Although he doesn't look like it in this picture, he was very excited.

Emma and I sat together and had a great time. I have no pictures of Ellie or Mack at the game because Ellie sat with my parents, and Mack sat with Worth in the next section over.

I sure do miss this lady. Mimi and my dad shared a September 1st birthday. She would have been 95 last Friday. I know she was celebrating by making biscuits and chocolate dumplings in heaven. This is her holding Ellie not too long after Ellie was born.
